Let's Love Our Hearts in February (w/ Giveaway)

My husband and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day. I may be able to squeeze a mid-week massage out of him but that's about as romantic as it's gonna get at our house next Tuesday. However, I love making it a special day for my kids. They always wake up to a special treat on Valentine's Day and we have something to fit the "heart" theme for dinner or dessert. This year we are going with a heart shaped pizza recipe. With only four ingredients, this recipe is as easy as it gets and perfect to make with the kids!

Ingredients:
1 can Pillsbury* Refrigerated Pizza Crust
1 cup (250 mL) pizza sauce
24 slices pepperoni
1 cup (250 mL) shredded mozzarella cheese

-If using classic crust: Heat oven to 425ºF. Lightly spray or grease large cookie sheet.
-Unroll dough on work surface. With sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut dough into 4 rectangles. Place rectangles on cookie sheet. Cut 1-inch slit in centre of wide edge of each dough portion; on opposite wide edge across from slit, pinch dough together to shape point of heart. Slightly separate each cut slit, and gently press dough into a 6x5-inch heart, creating slight rim on edge of dough.
-Divide pizza sauce evenly onto hearts, spreading to within 1/2 inch of edges. Top each with 6 slices pepperoni and 1/4 cup cheese.
-Bake 13 to 16 minutes or until crust edges are golden brown and cheese is melted.

I did a test run today and it turned out great. I left out the pepperoni and cut the crust off after cooking as that's my pizza preference. You could also add any sort of veggies you like. I can't wait to make these with the kids on Valentine's Day.

By now, I'm sure you know that February is not only the month of love but it's also Heart Month. I mentioned the new Cheerios.ca website in my last Life Made Delicious Connector post. Have you checked it out yet? There is tons of information there to help you improve you heart health. This month Cheerios is also launching a new family-sized box of Chocolate Cheerios!

Wow, Cheerios is having a busy month...and they want you to get in on the action so they have offered a fantastic Heart Month Giveaway for my readers. One lucky reader will win a Cheerios Heart Month prize pack which includes a set of four heart shaped bowls, Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios and the new family sized Chocolate Cheerios! Go for your walk everyday! If you have a baby, it's a great way to get out of the house and your baby will love it too!

Think of housework as an extra chance to exercise. Vacuuming briskly can be a real workout.

Always keep full (reusable of course) water bottles in the fridge as a way to remind you to grab water first if you are in the fridge looking for a snack as you probably aren't hungry, but actually thirsty instead.
