The (Egg) Hunt Is On! #KinderMom

Even though it's really late this year, Easter seems to have crept up on me. I think it's because the weather isn't very spring-like yet. Thankfully, we don't do an outdoor egg hunt because it snowed again yesterday and the ground is white. Spring weather in Canada is so unpredictable!
Are you there spring? It's me, Jonnie
Our Easter celebrations are kept inside, but they are still lots of fun! Our boys wake up to an empty Easter basket sitting beside their beds. There is a trail of chocolate eggs leading from each basket, down the stairs to the living room where they find some gifts and treats waiting for them. Then it's time to fill those empty baskets as they search the whole downstairs for hidden eggs. Because our boys are so far apart in age, some eggs are hidden very well and others are in plain sight. This allows everyone to find some eggs and have lots of fun. I remember as a kid, my mom was so good at hiding eggs that sometimes we would find a random egg lurking on a windowsill or in a drawer in May or June!

After the egg hunt is over, we head outside (weather permitting) for a few hours to burn off some chocolate energy by playing with kites, bubbles and any other outdoor toys the Easter Bunny left. Later in the day, we have a big Easter feast then settle in for a family movie with some Easter treat movie snacks. The next Easter tradition is one the kids don't know about...you'll keep my secret, right? After the kids go to bed, my husband and I raid their baskets and indulge in a few of our favorite treats. My husband loves anything with chocolate and peanut butter while I'm all about the Kinder Mini Eggs!
Kinder has been a huge part of our Easter celebration for a long time. Their products do such a good job of combining treats and toys! They have a great selection of special Easter items sure to thrill kids of any age. If you're planning an egg hunt, the Kinder Egg Hunt Kit has everything you need. Each kit includes 4 Kinder Surprise Eggs, 8 Kinder Schklo-Bons, 4 Kinder Eggs (hazelnut) and a hollow bunny. Check out the Kinder Canada facebook page to see their entire Easter 2014 collection.
This holiday, Kinder is proud to once again share the joy with the Children's Miracle Network to make this Easter a little brighter for sick kids. They are donating $25000 and some Easter baskets to support CMN hospitals across North America.

How do you share the Easter joy?

Bath Time Is Fun And Gentle With #AveenoBabies

Our baby bath time ritual involves an evening bath to wash away the day followed by a quick lotion massage to relax the baby and hydrate his skin. Bath time has always been one of my favorite times with my babies. It's such great bonding time and it's fun to watch as the baby learns how to splash and interact with the water. Of course, bath time is not just about fun. It's also about caring for your baby's skin. That's why it's important to find baby products that are gentle on skin and pleasant to use.
Our family has trusted the Aveeno brand for several years now. We have had many positive experiences with their products so I had high expectations when I was offered the chance to try out two of Aveeno's baby products. I am so happy that they didn't disappoint!

The first product we tried was the Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo. This 2-in-1 product is made with ACTIVE NATURALS® oat extract and is soap-free. It has a very light scent that smells fresh and not soapy at all. This product lathered up nicely and rinsed off cleanly. We've had an issue with dry scalp in the past but since using this product, the baby's scalp is perfectly smooth and soft, just like the rest of his skin!

I am very particular about the baby wash I use because some have irritated the baby's eyes even though they claim to be tear-free. Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo passed our tear-free test with flying colours! There was not even a hint of redness around the baby's eyes during or after bath time.

The second product we've been trying out is Aveeno Baby Daily Lotion. We use it right after bath time to seal in moisture and keep skin soft. Aveeno Baby Daily Lotion contains ACTIVE NATURALS® colloidal oatmeal and is fragrance-free, paraben-free and hypoallergenic. The big difference I've noticed since switching to Aveeno lotion is I am able to dress the baby right after applying the lotion. It absorbs very quickly into the skin and doesn't leave any greasy feeling.

The baby's skin is always left feeling soft and smooth. No dry or red patches even with the horrible weather fluctuations we've been having! I always rub the lotion between my hands a bit to get it warm before applying and as an added bonus, I've noticed a big difference in the softness of my hands since we started using the Daily Lotion!

Both of these Aveeno Baby products are pediatrician recommended and hypoallergenic making them gentle and safe to use everyday on your baby's delicate skin. If you plan to try these products out for yourself, you can find a $1.00 off coupon HERE (its printable so you can use it today!).

Aveeno Baby has become a permanent part of our bath time routine!

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Combo Pack {Giveaway}

In The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, a timid magazine photo manager (Ben Stiller), who lives life vicariously through daydreams, must embark on an incredible real-life adventure when a priceless negative goes missing. One of the places that this adventure takes Mitty is the beautiful Nordic country of Iceland. In honor of the film’s Blu-ray and DVD release on April 15th, we’re bringing you nine facts about the country that you may have never heard.

1. Icelandic language has been relatively unchanged for the last 1000 years.

Modern inhabitants of Iceland speak a language almost identical to that spoken by the country’s original Viking settlers in the 9th and 10th centuries.

2. There are 130 volcanic mountains in the roughly 40,000 square miles that make up Iceland.

18 of them have erupted in the last 1000 years, and the largest one covers nearly 8% of the country’s surface.

3. Reykjavik is the world’s northernmost capital city.

Iceland is so far north of the equator that the country experiences nearly continuous daylight during the summer months of June and July.

4. Surveys have shown that nearly 80% of Icelanders believe in the existence of elves.

The elves are thought to have magical powers, and special “elf negotiators” are sometimes brought in when construction is to take place in an area believed to be inhabited by the creatures.

5. Icelanders love movies.

They watch more films, per capita, than the people of any other country in the world.

6. Iceland is one of the most energy-efficient countries in the world.

70% of the energy used by Icelanders is produced by the country’s natural geothermal and hydroelectric resources.

7. Iceland’s main industry is fishing.

In fact, the usually peaceful nation entered into a series of confrontations with the United Kingdom in the 1950’s and 1970’s when the British refused to acknowledge an “exclusive fishery zone” that Iceland had instituted in the waters off its coast.

8. Iceland is the most sparsely populated country in Europe.

Roughly 322,000 people call the island nation home.

9. One of Iceland’s traditional foods is called hakarl.

It’s a dish of rotting and fermented shark meat.

See the natural splendor of Iceland for yourself when The Secret Life of Walter Mitty comes to Blu-ray and DVD April 15th! Enter below for your chance to win a blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD combo pack. All entries are optional so you can choose how you want to earn entries and you can come back every day for a free daily entry.

The Pirate Fairy Sails Onto Blu-ray Combo Pack Today {Review}

Disney is kicking off the month of April with a super fun blu-ray combo pack release - The Pirate Fairy hits store shelves today! As a mom of boys, we don't necessarily check out all the Disney Fairy movies, but we couldn't resist this one after hearing that it ties into Peter Pan.

This movie is packed with action and adventure but it also has a softer side. It is so fun to watch the world of fairies and pirates collide! You get to catch up with the fairies you know and love, meet a feisty new fairy and see the beginnings of a few classic Peter Pan characters. The animation is beautiful on this film. The colours really pop and there is tons of detail. Even the case for this movie is detailed and beautiful! The combo pack includes a blu-ray, DVD and a digital HD copy you can watch on your mobile devices.

There are plenty of bonus features included as well. There are some deleted scenes and sing along songs that help extend the fun. There's also a peek into the recording booth for the recording of a song and an entertaining look at "real world" crocodiles but my favorite bonus feature was Second Star To The Right: The Legacy of Never Land. This showed how the filmmakers were inspired to bring the story of Peter Pan and Never Land to The Pirate Fairy movie.

We enjoyed this story so much and I'm really hoping it opens the door to explore even more of Never Land in future films.
From the world of “Peter Pan” comes “The PirateFairy” a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic and thrills, “The Pirate Fairy” sets sail April 1, 2014.
